Cover Reveal – Three Is Not a Crowd, a Wayward Ink Publishing Anthology

It gives me great pleasure to share with you the cover of Wayward Ink Publishing‘s latest anthology, Three is Not a Crowd. This amazing collection of stories where all good things come in threes will most definitely delight you. One of the stories in this mix happens to be mine – Chimera – and if you scroll all the way to the end of this post, you’ll be able to enjoy a short excerpt!

Chimera is a paranormal/psychological story where once again I explore the thin line between going crazy or being confronted with paranormal events. I really do hope you enjoy it!

Why would anyone think three was a crowd?

No. No. No. No. No.

Three is a triangle…

and did you know it’s the strongest geometrical shape?

All the best things come in threes…

Musketeers, primary colors, three-ringed circuses, stooges, blind mice, little pigs. The list goes on.

Of course they say trouble comes in three too…

but we won’t go there… or will we?

**giggle** There’s three sheets to the wind.

And **sigh… drool** there’s three piece suits.

And trust us, it’s no coincidence that there are three ingredients in a BLT.

Or only three elements to the game Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Want to get physical???

Well, there’s… three-legged races… (what were you thinking?)

Political? Of the people, by the people, for the people.

Or creepy? Hear no evil. Speak no evil. See no evil.

Why, three has so much going for it we don’t even need to mention a…

1…………            2…………            3………… sandwich

(substitute your own dream guys)

And of course, there’s: On your Mark. Get Set. And Go!

So Go! Read the short stories in…

Chimera Excerpt

DAVID GRIPPED the armrests of the leather chair he was sitting in, his knuckles turning white. He leaned forward, his eyes burning holes in the therapist in front of him. His heels bumped into the leather as his body coiled, ready to lunge. He felt his fingers itching with the desire to clutch the man’s throat and squeeze. The thought of his sweaty skin on David’s sent shivers of disgust down his spine, and the heavy breathing of the balloon of a man made him wince. He looked to be one comfort meal away from a heart attack, his suit stained with grease, his belly pushing the limits of his shirt to the point of bursting.
“I am not fucking crazy!” David’s voice reverberated in the large, mostly empty office. He snarled at the lack of expected response. The man was supposed to shiver in fear, to call security, to look in some way affected.
The man smacked his lips together, his cheeks burning red as if he’d run several miles just before plopping down in his oversized chair. His puffy hands were most annoying, especially the left one, which was moving with purpose over the notepad he held, writing down lies about David’s situation.
“Why do you think your parents are lying to you, David?” Cranewood asked, exuding utter boredom.
“Because they won’t tell me what happened to my brother,” David muttered, narrowing his eyes at the man and pulling into himself even more. One jump, just one, and he could reach the fucker and bang his head against the first hard surface he encountered.
David was long past any remnant of control and his furious eruption was only a matter of time. He’d explained this so many times, he was starting to use the same words, over and over again. He could sense he’d been a twin. Weird dreams of floating in a blurry liquid—something… no, someone pressed against him—were plaguing him every night. Someone who looked like him called his name every time, blaming him for forgetting.
His parents insisted he’d never had a brother, but he knew better. He couldn’t make this shit up. Not the dreams, not anything. He wasn’t starved for brotherly affections; his older siblings had always fawned over him. He wasn’t abused or lonely or unfulfilled. This muddy mess had not sprouted from hidden corners of his mind. If felt foreign, external, something that was part of a different entity.
“You’ve seen all birth records, haven’t you? You’ve seen the report from the head of OBGYN at Mary’s Mercy Hospital,” the therapist said, looking over his thick-framed glasses and briefly ceasing his scribblings.
“Everything can be faked. It was much easier over twenty years ago.”
The man had the decency to nod and look out the window. David relaxed enough to sit straight in the chair, a sense of euphoria coursing through him as his muscles loosened.
“True, but Dr. Masters is a personal friend of mine. The man is too smug to fake anything,” Cranewood said, chuckling and shaking his head.
