Monday Progress Report: Book Launches, Birmingham Pride, YouTube and #amwriting

It’s been a while since I’ve published one of these. Still, they happen with some regularity on the blog. Last month – May – has been a crazy one. I had an important launch – contemporary gay romance novel Dusk to Dawn, I traveled to Birmingham for Pride. I relaunched my YouTube channel (then took a two week break because I was busy with pre-Birmingham tasks). I organized giveaways and other promotions for both May and June.

With all that going on, here’s how things look like this Monday.

Writing Goals and Current Status

I am currently drafting the second book of the Famous on the Internet series. If you are not familiar with this one, it’s a contemporary gay romance book series featuring internet celebrities. The first book, Br0th3rly, features a young blogger who’s been in love with his adopted brothers since his early teen years.

The second book in the series–untitled at the moment, but I am playing with some ideas–focuses on a travel blogger. Dante is traveling around the world and blogging about it, but this lifestyle is not the best to meet guys who want more than a hookup. At his high school reunion, Dante is reconnected with his high school crush, Tommy, and lots of interesting things happen. This is a story about finding a way to doing what you love and still trying to have a meaningful relationship. It’s not always easy, especially when you’re running around the entire globe.

I am about 40% into this book and the plan is to finish it in early July, so that I can send it to my wonderful editor. I’ve had a good week, writing every day, and seeing my word count go a bit higher than it’s been in earlier weeks of June. The plan for this week is to get it to about 70%, then finish it in the first full week of July.

This particular book is a fun one to write. I have been running a travel blog for about ten years now and I’ve met quite a few travel bloggers over the years. Some of my and their experiences have helped shape this book.

New Plans for my Newsletter

If you’ve been following my progress, you know I’ve focused quite a bit on growing my newsletter. You can easily sing up on my homepage, and you’ll be greeted with an email prompting you to download a free copy of my military gay short story, Mission: Protect the Ex. While this subscription award will stay there for the foreseeable future, I plan on adding a new reward: all newsletter subscribers will get advance samples of my future releases. I am not talking about the short sample that’s available on Amazon. I mean about 30-40% of the book. The first try at this will happen in July and I am working on it right now.

Publishing plans

The next release from yours truly will be the complete series bundle for Lover’s Journey. The individual books cost 3.99 USD, but the bundle price is significantly lower than their combined prices. If you haven’t read the individual books, then getting both these friends to lovers gay contemporary romances might be easier. You can go pre-order now, or wait until June 30 to buy Lover’s Journey – Gay Contemporary Romance Series Bundle on release day, or read if for free if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription.

July will be the one month where I take a break from publishing, but I will be submitting Sky and Storm to a publisher. So while I will be finishing up the new Famous on the Internet book and getting it ready for release, I will also be reading through this alternate universe story and getting it ready to be reviewed by a publisher.

That’s it for this Monday, hope you’ve enjoyed my round up. Do let me know in the comments where you are with your plans and what you are up to this week! Until next time, have a blast!
