Monday Progress Report: Writing, Website Redesign and Releases

After the craziness I talked about in last week’s report, things have somewhat calmed down. Not by much, but hey! I can’t complain. The renovations are still happening, but I might just have it all done by the end of the week. Which means I will get back into my room, have a new office setup, and probably film a YouTube video about it 🙂

The past week was pretty good. I started doing sprints with other authors again, and that helped a lot with the word count. I wrote about 9,000 words last week and ended June on a high note. After May, where I barely had six days of writing, in June I only missed a week in total, all of it in the first third of the month. If I keep it up in July, I’ll be back at my writing every day schedule.

Writing Progress

I got to about 70% into my new Famous on the Internet installment. So a 30% progress from last week’s 40% mark. If I can keep this up, I’ll tell you the story is complete by the end of next week. In parallel, I am doing a final read through Sky and Storm, my alternate universe medieval story, and then submitting it to a publisher.

I intend to continue with the writing springs, if my author friends are available, as they’ve proven invaluable to keep my word count on track. At the same time, Camp NaNoWriMo is happening and all the posts and videos about it are great at motivating me.

If you want to know more about how I got to this writing every day plan, how I stay on task and what helps motivate me, read last week’s post on how to avoid writing slumps.

Publishing Progress

I’ve just released Lover’s Journey Series Bundle – the complete series containing gay contemporary romances Dawn to Dusk and Dusk to Dawn in one discounted bundle. It happened last Friday and it went well rather smoothly. Thanks to everyone who’s bought it or read it with their Kindle Unlimited subscription.

My next release won’t happen until August, so there will be a publishing break in July. There will be promos though, and I am setting up the sample system for newsletter subscribers. Plus I am working on submissions to publishers, so I should be busy enough.

Other Tasks

The YouTube channel is still on track, and I plan to keep focusing on it. I will probably try to match some videos with in-detail posts on the blog, especially for important advice that people have shown interest in. This might mean I’ll re-schedule one or two videos if needed. I am also still trying to decide if I want to do two videos a week, or another extra video every two weeks. We’ll see how it goes.

I am currently working on redesigning this website. My friend Adrian Rafail is doing most of the work, I am just offering support – telling him what I need and where, and updating content. I am not sure how long it will take, but, based on the initial mock up, the site will look a lot better. Hopefully, the mobile version will function better as well. And the sharing buttons will no longer act up!

What are your plans for this week and how well did you do last week? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
